PORTRAIT

It is the first in a series of ‘personal portraits’; a pause to reflect, ponder and consider.

Photography and, specifically, self-portraiture has played a key role in all my work. Each portrait, sometimes collaged, sometimes unaltered, is printed onto silk chiffon, wet felted and then hand stitched.

A response to the climate emergency where climate justice is inseparable from racial justice; despair and hopelessness? Or the absolute joy of the safe delivery of my second grandchild, the new human who joined the family just a few weeks ago?

Where to put ones’ time and energy…what will make the biggest and most useful impact?
